Fall Favorites
We spent last week finishing up our farm Ibooks and studying some fall favorites---apples and pumpkins! We had the opportunity to open up a pumpkin and see inside of it, estimate the circumference of our pumpkin, and plant our very own pumpkin plants. We have included a class picture of our fun pumpkin day and our finished jack-o-lantern as well as pictures from our circumference game. We hope you enjoy our pictures. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
Green Meadows Pumpkin Patch
We had a wonderful time exploring Green Meadows Pumpkin Patch where we were able to film and photograph the farm animals that we had been researching for our Ibook projects. Here are some of the great photos that our Kindergartners took on our trip! Enjoy! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Socktober
During the month of October, our Kindergartners here at Watson participated in Kid President's Socktober campaign where he encouraged others to do something kind for your community by collecting socks for the homeless. The socks that we collected were donated to the Friendship House here in our community. Here is the music video that we created in celebration of our successful service project and a few pictures from our fun day! Enjoy! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Kindergarten Career Day Skype Session
We had the privilege of Skyping with Mr. Koch, a biologist, for Career Day here at Watson. He shared with us about what he had to do to become a biologist, some of his favorite things about his job, and some of the places he travels as he does his job. He also shared some of the tools that he uses at work with us. Here is a video of our time together and some pictures from this fun day! We hope you enjoy them! Transportation Projects
After studying our community, we thought that it would be fun to create our own new mode of transportation. As a home-school connection, our Kindergarten students made a new transportation vehicle at home and then presented them at school. Wow! Our Kindergarten students are so very creative. Here is a show we made to showcase their hard work. We hope you like it! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!
Classroom Community
Our Kindergarten students and teachers are so very proud of the amazing classroom communities that our children built. During this class project based learning activity, our students learned that our community needed all different kinds of places, people, and things. We created five different categories of buildings that we needed. There were buildings for communication, safety, entertainment, health, and travel. Our students then chose a building that they thought was important and created it for our community. Then, we made a video on our MacBooks in Photobooth telling why that building was important to our community. We used the Aurasma app to link our videos to our buildings. Then, our Kindergarten families came to school and allowed our Kindergartners to teach them how to use our iPads to view their videos. Here are our classroom community shows. We hope you enjoy them! Leave us a message and tell us what you think!

Hero Week
This week we celebrated Hero Week (Helping Everyone Respect Others) by learning about ways to be a good friend. We created Super Hero friend masks and our motto was "We are SuperHero Friends who Fight Bullying until the end!" Here is a picture from our SuperHero Day and a video that we made using the Chatterpix app where we tell ways that we can be a good friend. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Firemen Visit
Nouns
We have been studying nouns this week in Kindergarten. We have learned that a noun is a person, place, or thing. We participated in a movement game where we sorted ourselves into three categories around the room based on what picture we had pulled from a noun pile. Then, our students had the opportunity to go around the school and find items that were nouns. Finally, they we able to move their pictures into a Keynote presentation for you to enjoy here on the blog. Let us know what you think about our show by leaving a comment. Enjoy our pictures from our movement game, as well.

Third Week Highlights
We have been studying about our community helpers. We had an opportunity to meet some of our community helpers and learn about their jobs. Check out our pictures of our special guests below! Our students also created a Keynote presentation which shows them dressed up as the community helper that they hope to be in the future.
Finally, we enjoyed a day with our grandparents this week. In honor of Grandparents' Day, we created a slide show which includes the music that we sang to them that day and pictures from our event. We are so very thankful to all of our grandparents who attended! We hope you had a wonderful time!
Second Week Highlights
We have been working hard this week on our numbers 1-5. We have learned a fun song for each number and have been singing away as we learn to recognize, write, and count using these numbers. We even made our numbers out of playdough. Check out our pictures below! In addition, we have been talking about ourselves and our family. We created avatars that look like ourselves. We then compared our eye color, hair color, etc. and talked about how we are alike and different. Please enjoy our show from this week. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
First Week Highlights
We had so much fun the first week of school! One of our favorite activities was hunting for the gingerbread man around our school, as we learned about the different locations we could visit here at Watson. We did not catch him, but we did get to enjoy some of his edible friends that he left for us to snack on. We took some time to get to know our new friends and created a slide show of our pictures, once we each had a chance to take our picture using the Ipad2 at recess. We also learned about what it means to be a friend and what it means to be a bully. We created popplets using the Ipad2s to organize our thoughts on what it means to be a friend or a bully. Finally, as a culmination activity at the end of the week, we created a list of our ten favorite things about school. Please take some time and enjoy our projects from this first week. Feel free to leave us a comment and tell us what you think!

Dallas Zoo
During the past two weeks our Kindergarten and First Grade students have been hard at work researching endangered animals. Together in small groups, our students learned about panda bears, polar bears, tigers, elephants, gorillas, and sea turtles. They studied ways to help these endangered animals and then created propaganda to help educate others about the needs of these animals. Then, we took to the hallways and advocated for the protection of our endangered animals as we paraded through our school encouraging our Watson family to help save these animals. We also created commercials which our Watson family viewed in support of our cause. Finally, our school family is helping us to raise donations for the Wylie Insync Exotic tiger refuge. We will then donate these items to their facility later this week. After all of our hard work these past two weeks, we had some fun exploring the Dallas Zoo and seeing the animals that we learned about all week in person. You can enjoy our parade, commercials, and zoo show below. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
