Lovely Landforms
We have been learning about landforms this week during our Social Studies unit. Some of the exciting landforms that we have been studying are mountains, hills, plains, deserts, oceans, rivers, and lakes. We had the opportunity to build hills and mountains out of play dough, and we created lakes and plains out of graham crackers, blue icing, and goldfish crackers. Finally, as a culmination project, we created our own landform paintings using watercolors. Here are some pictures from our fun week! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about our landform creations.

Shine Your Light Challenge
#Shine Your Light Challenge
For the past five years, we have had the privilege of partnering with Josh Groban’s Find Your Light Foundation, an organization who gives music and instruments to public schools who do not have the music and art programs that we are blessed to enjoy here at Watson. During the month of November, we challenge you to participate in our Shine Your Light Challenge and help us fulfill our dream of helping others in need!
Here’s how our challenge works--have a family member or friend record a one minute or less video of you sharing one of your talents. You can sing a song, perform a dance, play an instrument, or even show off a work of art. Then, have your family member share it with our wildcat family! You can tweet it to us @TammyTodd22 #ShineYourLight, you can put it on a flash drive and send it to Miss Todd with this entry form, or you can email your video to Miss Todd (Trtodd@garlandisd.net). We will then feature YOU shining your light on the big screen during lunch and tweet it out for all to see!
*Donations are not required to participate in our Shine Your Light Challenge but would be greatly appreciated! You can attach your donation to your entry form. Checks can be made out to Find Your Light Foundation.*
We challenge you to Shine Your Light and help us help others to Find Their Light! :)
If you would like to see some of the students that we have been able to help with our service project, check out our story on Josh’s Find Your Light website here:

Thank you!

Music Around the World--A Christmas Edition--Week 6--South America
What an exciting day we had at our Music Around the World Club today! We learned all about South America and one of their favorite instruments--the rainstick. After exploring some of the special places you can visit in Brazil, we were able to learn about a day in the life of a boy from Brazil. We also saw some of the different ways that you can make a rainstick. We enjoyed learning about the rainstick so much that we decided to make our very own rainstick. Then, we had the privilege of singing "Let There Be Peace on Earth" with our new instruments. We also reviewed two of our favorite songs, "Let it Be Christmas Everywhere" and "Feliz Navidad". We had such a fabulous day and can not wait until next week! Here are some pictures and a video from our exciting day! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!
Party with the Principal
Our Kindergartners enjoyed partying with our principal today in celebration of their parents joining our Watson PTA. We enjoyed hotdogs, chips, cookies, and lemonade. Then, we played a game of "Run Rats Run" with Mr. Grey. It was so much fun! Here is a video and some pictures of our fun time together. Thank you for joining our PTA. They do so much to support our Watson family! From funding field trips to Glow Night and beyond....we are so blessed to have the privilege of working with them each year!
Living Things
After learning all about what makes something living, our students had the chance to choose an animal from our farm animal field trip and have that animal explain what makes him a living organism. Using the app Chatterpix, they created videos to show you what they have learned. Here are some exciting videos of their creations:

Music Around the World--A Christmas Edition--Week 5--America
What an exciting day we had in Music Around the World this morning. We had a wonderful time wearing our Halloween costumes and singing Christmas songs from around the world! :) After reviewing the other songs that we already know, we learned about America and the many different ways that people celebrate Christmas here in our country. We were introduced to an American classic--Jingle Bells and enjoyed singing and playing along to this song. Check out our pictures and video from our fun time together!
