In Social Studies this week, we have been studying about maps and globes. We have learned that maps are two dimensional and help you to travel from one town or state to another. In addition, we learned that globes are three dimensional and are helpful for international travel and learning about other countries. During our studies, we enjoyed creating puzzles of the United States and artistic creations of our Earth. Here are some fun pictures of our creations. We hope you enjoy them!

Super Citizens
In Social Studies this week we reviewed what it meant to be a super citizen. Then, we used the Chatterpix app on our iPads to create our own video creations of us talking about how we are super citizens. These are so cute! We hope you enjoy them!
Float Your Boat
This week we learned about Christopher Columbus. We studied about his contributions to our history and the many explorations he led. Then, we enjoyed an exciting STEAM opportunity where we created our own boats out of recyclable materials and tested them to see if they would float. Check out our amazing boats and a video of them in action:
Day and Night
We spent this week in science studying about day and night and the objects we see in the sky. We brainstormed the objects that we can see in the sky and then investigated whether they belonged in the day sky or the night sky. Then, we went outside to see for ourselves. Finally, we recorded what we learned about objects in the sky and which ones belonged in the day or the night sky. We used this information to create a night and day sequence. Check out our movie of our sequence below! Here are some fun pictures from our science adventures this week. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think. Thank you! :)
Making New Friends
Since returning to school virtually and in person, we have been taking some time to get to know our new friends. We have created a slide show of our pictures using the Ipad. Please enjoy our projects from the first couple of weeks of school and enjoy meeting our new friends!
Meet Miss Todd's Kindergartners

Welcome to Kindergarten 2020-2021
Find Your Light Foundation Service Project
Hi! My name is Tammy Todd and I have the privilege of teaching Kindergarten at Watson
Math and Science Technology Center in Garland, Texas. For the past seven years my
Kindergartners and I have had the special blessing to partner with Josh Groban and
his "Find Your Light" foundation to help raise funds to provide music and instruments for
public schools who would not otherwise have these items. In our seven year journey
together, we have raised over $25,000 for Josh's Find Your Light Foundation.
In addition to teaching Kindergarten, I am blessed to have the opportunity to teacher a Music
Around the World class, as well. Our enrichment class provides our Kindergarten-Second
Grade students an opportunity to learn about the different songs and instruments that
countries around our world have to offer. After creating instruments out of recyclable
materials and learning a song from each country, my children present a Music Around the
World Celebration Night for our Watson families.
Working together for a special cause, my Kindergarten class and my Music Around the World Class, sell "Cookies for Quarters" at all of our music events here at Watson each year. My Music Around the World Class also sells dvds of their performances to help raise funds for this important service project, and in an effort to increase our funds, we host monthly events for our Watson Wildcats which benefit our service project, as well. These include a movie night, Popsicles and the Playground event, Winter Wonderland Art Adventure afternoon, Sing-a-Long Sundae party, Coding and Coke Float event, Find Your Light Paint Night, and a Watermelon Feed and Fun event. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we were unable to host our March, April, and May events this past year and our Music Around the World Celebration Night had to be canceled. So, we were not able to sell Dvds of our show.
My kids and I were so disappointed to not be able to finish our year together and to not be able to have the opportunity to finish reaching our $5,000 goal. So, I decided that I had to come up with another way to make this happen for my kids!
I have the privilege of playing the flute in a local orchestra with some very talented musicians who are kind enough to allow me to play with them. I called them all up and told them about our situation, and we decided together to make our own CD for you all! So, while we have all been in quarantine, we have also been recording some of our favorite music just for you.
We invited you to help save our Find Your Light Foundation service project by sending a donation in any amount you were able to give to Watson. In return for your generous donation, I mailed copies of our CD to our donors, as a thank you for their generosity and kindness. We were so amazed at the response and are proud to announce that with your help we did it! We reached our $5,000 goal again this past year! My kids and I can not thank you enough for the love and support that you have shown us through this unprecedented time, and we are forever grateful for you!
Through our service project, we have learned about the importance of giving and how little people can do big things to help our world. Thank you for helping us to make a difference in our world by helping a child to “Find his Light!” I can not thank you enough for that!
We thought you might enjoy seeing our Find Your Light Foundation service project CD video that we used to promote our project. Please check it out below:

As my Kindergartners and I finished our year together yet apart, we came together virtually to add some sweet faces to our friend, Josh's, new song, "Your Face." My little ones sent me posters of encouragement and videos of their talents to showcase the hope that we still hold onto in this challenging time. When I heard his new song, these are my little faces of hope that I saw in my head and held in my heart. I hope they touch your heart today too!
Here are my faces of hope:
