Nouns and Letter Formations

We have been studying nouns this week in Kindergarten. We have learned that a noun is a person, place, or thing. We participated in a movement game where we sorted ourselves into three categories around the room based on what picture we had pulled from a noun pile. Then, we had the opportunity to go around the school and find items that were nouns. Finally, we were able to show what we had learned about nouns by making our very own tree map for people, places, and things. We hope you enjoy our pictures from our noun activities.

We also enjoyed working on our letter formations. We used shaving cream and our fingers to practice writing our capital and lowercase letters. From the smiles on our faces, you can see that this was a super fun activity that helped us to review what we have been learning about letters these first few weeks of Kindergarten.

Science Tools and Numbers Rules

During these first few weeks of school, we participated in an exciting sink or float experiment where we made predictions and recorded our observations. We learned that scientists are observers and enjoyed seeing the results of our experiments. We have included a picture of our journal entries so you can see how we are being real scientists here at school. We also took time to explore some of our science tools such as droppers, clothespins/cups, paper clips/timers, balances, hand lenses, and magnets. We have also been working hard this week on our numbers 1-5. We have learned a fun song for each number and have been singing away as we learn to recognize, write, and count using these numbers. We even made our numbers out of playdough. Check out our pictures below! Please enjoy our pictures from this week. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.

Welcome to Kindergarten

We have had so much fun these first few weeks of school getting to know our classmates and learning about the special places in our school! One of our favorite activities was hunting for the gingerbread man around our school, as we learned about the different locations we could visit here at Watson. We did not catch him, but we did get to enjoy some of his edible friends that he left for us to snack on. We took some time to get to know our new friends and created a slide show of our pictures, once we each had a chance to take our picture using the Ipad. Please take some time and enjoy our projects from the first few weeks of school. Feel free to leave us a comment and tell us what you think!
