Amazing Mazes

Our Watson Kindergarten students participated in a STEAM challenge (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) where they built mazes. They were given popsicle sticks, 50 cm of painter's tape, and a pair of scissors. Then, they were allowed to be creative and work together to build the fastest maze with at least ten turns. We all started this challenge at the same time and completed this challenge without any adult assistant. I was impressed with their hard work and determination! There was a lot of critical thinking and active problem solving going on as they worked together to build their mazes. We have included some pictures and video from our challenge below. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about our mazes.

I am proud to announce that this amazing student was our STEAM challenge winner:

I Have a Dream!

This week in Kindergarten we learned about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and how he helped to change our world for the better! We read about his dream that he had for our world and learned about his many accomplishments. Then, we talked about what our dreams are for the future and what we hope happens to make our world a better place one day! Here are some pictures from our fun week and a video of us sharing our dreams with the world! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think! Share your dreams with us, too! We would love to learn about your hopes for our future world! :)

Hazel Health Honors

We were so blessed on Friday to find out that we won second place in our Hazel Health contest. Our friends from Hazel Health brought us a special snack and a jump rope to celebrate. We are so thankful for their kindness and for your willingness to help get our Kindergartners signed up for this wonderful program! Check out the fun we had during our Hazel Health party:

Magical Motion

In science this week, we studied motion. We learned how motion is the way that objects can move. We begin this exciting study with an exploration of marbles where we learned that items can move in a straight line, back and forth, round and round, in a zigzag, and up and down. Then, we had an opportunity to explain these different motions by practicing these motions with streamers. Finally, we experimented with motion stations where we enjoyed activities such as a marble run, marble painting, magnetic movements, ping-pong cup catching, coin spinning, and ping-pong ball dropping.  Here are some videos and pictures of our exciting explorations. We hope you enjoy the show! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!

This week in Kindergarten we have been studying about winter in science. We have learned about what clothes you need to wear in winter, fun activities you can do in the winter, and things that animals do in the winter time. During the week we created several exciting winter art projects including winter pictures, snowmen art, and bears in their caves.  Here are some pictures of our exciting activities and creations. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think of them!
