This week we began our second PBL project entitled, "It's Alive." Our driving question is "Is it alive?" We have been learning about animals who live on the farm and plants that are grown there. We have learned that in order for something to be alive it has to breathe, move, require food and water to survive, reproduce (make more like itself), and grow and change. Throughout the week, we researched farm animals and learned about the different parts of each animal. Then, we drew and labeled an animal's parts and wrote about characteristics that are specific to that animal. We also enjoyed creating an exciting illustrated book called, "Our School Farm." We learned a fun song about these farm animals and shared our illustrated books with our families. After that, we researched the plants that are grown on the farm and illustrated these crops. Finally, we created our own farm where we built pens for our farm animals, barns for our people/supplies, and gardens for our crops. Check out our creative pictures from our second PBL project. We learned so much about what makes an animal or plant alive. We can't wait to continue our study next week!

Counting Forwards and Backwards to Ten
This week in Math we worked hard to master our report card skill--counting forward and backwards to ten. We made our own number cards and then practiced sequencing them forwards and backwards. Once we got really good at this game, we created our own count down rockets. We had so much fun counting that we could not wait to share these exciting activities with you! We hope you enjoy them:
Fall Festival Hosted by First Grade
Our First Grade friends were so kind to invite us to join them for their Fall Festival PBL. We enjoyed playing the games they created, while learning how to count and recognize money. This made our day at school extra special! Thank you so very much for having us! Check out the fun in our pictures and videos below:
