Find Your Light Paint Night

We had the privilege of partnering with an amazing artist and friend from Pennsylvania, Asja Randall, this week to work together to create our own beautiful versions of "Snowmen." Our Watson Wildcats met virtually with her through Google Meet and enjoyed an evening of creativity and camaraderie. We had a wonderful time and were blessed to get to learn from the best, our friend, Asja! In total, we made $700 for our Find Your Light Foundation service project bringing us even closer to our end of the year goal of $5,000. We can not thank you enough for joining us this week and helping to support our service project! We appreciate you all and hope that you had a wonderful time! Having fun and helping others to Find Their Light...there's nothing better than that! :)

Here are some exciting pictures of our evening together. Check out our amazing artists here at Watson MST:

Marvelous Math Stories--Addition

In math, we have been working hard to solve addition problems, using model drawing. This is the math program that they use in Singapore. Research has shown it to be very effective. Model drawing is a way for children to not only solve a story problem but to be able to prove why the answer is true. In order for our students to have a solid foundation in number sense, we find the ability to fully explain your reasoning behind your answer to be a very important skill. Model drawing allows our students the opportunity to practice doing this. Below you can see how we were able to solve problems that we created on our own using the model drawing strategies.

Sight Words and Sidewalk Chalk

It was a testing week this week, but we managed to have fun anyways. Check out our adventures with sidewalk chalk and our sight word songs:
