Music Around the World Celebration Night

I was blessed this school year to be able to host our tenth year of Music Around the World with our Kindergarten-Second Grade students here at Watson MST. Together with sixty-one of our talented students, we learned about the different songs and instruments that countries around our world have to offer. After enjoying our Music Around the World Class together for two six week sessions, we had the opportunity to present everything that we had learned to our parents and school family at our Music Around the World Celebration Night. I was so very proud of our boys and girls! They did a fantastic job! I want to thank our school family, our friends, and our wonderful Watson families for joining us in this celebration by attending our performance and showing us all such great love and support. You might also have noticed our super cool Find Your Light t-shirts that we wore during our performance. Find Your Light Foundation did an amazing job of creating these for us again this year.  We could not be more grateful for the shirts. My sweet kids love them and have been wearing them on Fridays ever since they received them! Thank you for allowing me the great privilege of working with your wonderful students and celebrating the universal language of music together. I had a wonderful time, and I look forward to watching our students as they continue to "Find Their Light" and "Shine On"!

Muffins for Mom

We had so much fun honoring our mothers on Thursday during our Muffins for Mom event! We served them a special snack, performed a Mother's Day program for them, and told them why we loved them in our Mother's Day show. Check out our videos from our special day and leave us a comment and let us know what you thought! We hope our Moms have a very Happy Mother's Day! :)

Financial Literacy

Our Watson MST Kindergartners have been learning about financial literacy. We have learned about the difference between income and gifts and how you can use these to purchase things you need and or want. As an exciting culminating activity, our Kindergartners earned income by doing chores around the classroom (cleaning tables, chairs, picking up papers off of the floor, etc.) Then, they used their income to purchase things they needed or wanted at the store. They had such a wonderful time doing this and learned a lot about financial literacy in the process. Check out their collages of their purchases:

Flat Stanley Adventures

We recently completed our Flat Stanley project! After reading the story of Flat Stanley, we created our own Flat Stanleys and mailed them to family/friends who lived all over the country. We sent them some interesting facts and information about our hometown and asked them to tell us about theirs. Over the past couple of weeks, our Flat Stanleys have returned home, and we have been sharing their adventures with our friends in our class. It has been so much fun to learn about the different states in our country and all of the exciting places that you can visit! Here are some pictures of our Flat Stanley adventures. We hope you enjoy learning about the United States of America as much as we did! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Music Around the World--Session 3--Week 6--South America

What an exciting day we had at our Music Around the World Class today! We learned all about South America and one of their favorite instruments--the rainstick. After exploring some of the special places you can visit in Brazil, we were able to learn about a day in the life of a boy from Brazil. We also saw some of the different ways that you can make a rainstick. We enjoyed learning about the rainstick so much that we decided to make our very own rainstick. Then, we had the privilege of singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" with our new instruments. We also reviewed two of our favorite songs, "Kye, Kye, Kule" and "It's a Small World." We had such a fabulous day and can not wait to share our show with you all in May! Here are some pictures and a video from our exciting day! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!
