In math, we enjoyed a study of 3D shapes. We learned about spheres, cylinders, cubes, and cones. We talked about how many sides, faces, and corners these shapes have. We also tested them to see which ones can roll, stack, or slide. Finally, we participated in a 3D shape sort where we sorted some familiar foods by 3D shape, and we also went on a shape hunt around our school taking pictures of our 3D shapes using our iPads. Here are a few pictures of our fun shape sort:

Powerful Positional Words
This week during our Social Studies lessons we have been studying about positional words (prepositional phrases). Through exciting and sometimes silly games and songs we have been learning about over/under/on, inside/outside, near/far, and left/right. Check out our show below and see all the fun things that we have been up to this week. Be aware...you just might find yourself humming along!

Library Learnings
Our sweet librarian, Mrs. Defoor, treated our Kindergartners to a fun moment enjoying manipulatives. They built and created to their hearts content! Thank you Mrs. Defoor for always thinking outside the box and bringing extra special adventures to our Watson Kindergartners!

Pumpkin Day
We ended our very busy week with a celebration of Pumpkin Day. We culminated our first week of our PBL with a study of all things pumpkin. We enjoyed a story about the life cycle of a pumpkin and created a sentence strip story of what we had learned. Then, we estimated the circumference of a pumpkin and tested our pumpkin string to see if it was too short, too long, or just right, as it circled around our pumpkin. Next, we reviewed our counting skills by counting pumpkin seeds. Finally, we planted pumpkin seeds in hopes of seeing a pumpkin sprout. We had so much fun learning about pumpkins this week.We hope you enjoy these pictures from our fun day!
