Super Sea Life Aquarium

 We had the amazing privilege of visiting the Sea Life Aquarium in Grapevine, Texas this week. We had such a wonderful time learning about the different animals who live in the sea. From stingrays to seahorses, we had an exciting interactive experience touching and feeding these special animals. We hope you enjoy checking out our pictures and videos from this adventure! Profound Planetarium

 Wow! What fun we had being introduced to space at the GISD Planetarium! We enjoyed a magical show, an interactive planet activity, and learned so much! Check it out: 

Fraction Action

 This week we enjoyed studying about fractions and how they show equal parts. We learned about breaking shapes into halves, quarters, thirds, etc. Then, we learned how to recognize 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/8, etc. while playing a board game with dice and a partner. We had the best time enjoying fractions! Check it out: 

Powerful Plants

     Just as a flower grows when tended to with love and care, we are continuing to grow in our learning each week. This week we focused on plants. We explored the different types of plants, compared the different seeds that plants come from, and had an opportunity to plant our own lima bean plants.  Here are some pictures and videos from our science explorations from this week.

Music Around the World--Session 3--Week 4--Native America

     Wow! Where do I begin! We had a wonderful time in our Music Around the World class today studying some of the beautiful music that came from Native America. After reviewing "It's a Small World," and "La Raspa", two of our songs from last week, we had the opportunity to learn about the legend of The Flute Player by listening to an old Apache legend. We learned that the flute is a special instrument to our teacher, Miss Todd, who plays it in a local orchestra. She had brought her flute with her to class today and shared a song with us called "Wind Song".  We also learned that the Native Americans used to play a sister instrument of the flute called a panpipe. Their panpipes were made out of reeds that had been cut different lengths and tuned to play various notes. Miss Todd showed us how to play "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" on the panpipes. Then, she taught us to play them and showed us how to create our very own panpipes.
