Thankful Thoughts

During our study of Thanksgiving, we talked a lot about being thankful for the blessings that you have been given in your life. Our Kindergarten students created an iMovie so that you could hear about the things that they are thankful for. Please listen and enjoy. Leave us a comment and let us know what you are thankful for. Thanks!

We also decorated a turkey so that he could be saved from his Thanksgiving day demise. We created a show so that you could see their disguises. Enjoy!

Nutrition News

This week we studied about nutrition. First, we learned about how the foods that we like to eat come from farms. We created a circle map of plants that can be eaten, which are grown on a farm. Then, we learned about healthy food choices and took pictures of foods that we eat at lunch. We used those foods to make a keynote slide show where we identified what food group each of them came from. Then, we used magazines and cut out pictures of healthy foods that we would like to eat. We are sharing these projects with you here in this post. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.

Needs and Wants

We have been talking about the differences between needs and wants. We have learned that a need is something that you can not live without like food, water, shelter, and clothes. A want is something that you would like to have but could live without like toys. games, and even books. This week we had the opportunity to explore ways that we could meet our needs. We held a class jewelry store where we learned about self-producing, buying, and trading. We made bracelets (self producing), traded a few with our friends, and then used our hard worker dollars that we earned while working to buy new bracelets at our classroom store. We also held a needs and wants show and tell where we brought items from home that illustrated a need or a want that we had in our real lives. Here are some pictures from our fun week and a video of our needs and wants show and tell. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think! Thanks!

All the Leaves are Falling Down

This week we studied about fall and explored fall leaves. We had the chance to go outside and collect fall leaves. Then, we participated in exciting learning games where we compared them and sorted them by shape and size. Finally, we took the time to be creative and used our leaf collections to make leaf buddies. Here are some pictures from our leaf adventures. We hope you like them! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Lovely Landforms

We have been learning about landforms this week during our Social Studies unit. Some of the exciting landforms that we have been studying are mountains, hills, plains, deserts, oceans, rivers, and lakes. We had the opportunity to build hills and mountains out of play dough, and we created lakes and plains out of graham crackers, blue icing, and goldfish crackers. Finally, as a culmination project, we created our own landform paintings using watercolors. Here are some pictures from our fun week! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about our landform creations.

Socktober

During the month of October, our Kindergartners here at Watson participated in Kid President's Socktober campaign where he encouraged others to do something kind for your community by collecting socks for the homeless. The socks that we collected were donated to the Friendship House here in our community. Here is the music video that we created in celebration of our successful service project and a few pictures from our fun day! Enjoy! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Fancy Farm Animals

During our study of farm animals, our students created Ibooks where they were able to showcase their work from their farm animal research project. As a part of that study, the children took videos of the farm animal that they were studying while on our farm animal trip. Here are their videos for you all to enjoy! I have also included pictures of the cute farm animal art projects that our Kindergartners created after meeting their animals in person. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about them!
