Valentine's Day

This week we celebrated Valentine's Day! In honor of this holiday, we created the show below to express what love means to us. We hope that you enjoy it! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
We also created a show from our Valentine's party today and have included some pictures that highlight some of the fun activities that we participated in this week. We hope you have a very Happy Valentine's Day!

Spread the Love Service Project

During the week of Valentine's Day, we focused on the importance of showing love to others through serving others. Each day we found a way to help someone else in our community. Here are some of the exciting opportunities that we enjoyed this week:

Valentines for Veterans: We created Valentines for one of our classmate's Dad who is currently serving in Iraq. We mailed them, along with a box of treats, to him. We hope that he can share them with his buddies overseas and help to make their day a little bit sweeter. We wanted them to know that we are thinking about them and wishing them a Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Thoughts Jar for our counselor, Miss Taylor: In recognition of Counselor's Week, we wrote happy thoughts on tiny cards and filled a jar with them for her to enjoy. Then, we delivered them to her and shared our Valentine's Day song with her. Now any time she needs a pick me up, she can just choose a "happy thought" from her jar! We hope she likes them! :)

Bandanas for our Buddies: This was one of our favorite activities! We partnered with our P.E. teacher, Coach Frith, who has foster dogs and works to help animals find forever homes at Operation Kindness. We created bandanas for her special furry friends to wear this week to help encourage others to adopt their new best friend! Here are some super sweet photos of the animals that we were able to help and our super cool bandanas!

Senior Citizen Sweets: Another special activity from this week was when we created Valentine cards for our friends at Chambrel Senior Center up the street. We had a chance to visit this special group at Christmas time where we shared our Christmas musical with them. They were touched that we were able to share Valentine's Day treats with them as well.

Parents' Valentine Coupon Books: Finally,  we created Valentine coupon books for our parents. These coupons will allow our parents to cash them in for special surprises such as dish washing duty, sweeping opportunities, and room cleaning chances. Parents here is your chance to have some extra help at home! We hope you enjoy these moments! :)

One Hundred Days of School

This past week we celebrated the 100th Day of School! Can you believe that we have been in school for 100 days? Throughout the day we took pictures and made this show to give you a chance to see what fun and exciting things we did to celebrate the 100th day of school. We also created a movie where we told you what we have learned so far in 100 days of Kindergarten, and we sang our 100 Days of School song. Finally, we culminated our project based learning unit on the 100th Day of School by holding a fashion show. Our students dressed up in a t-shirt covered with 100 items. Then, they came to school and we showed them off by walking the red carpet in our creations. Here is a recording of this fun event. We hope you like it! Leave us a message and let us know what you think about our shows! Enjoy!

Here is a show from our exciting 100th Day of School:

Snowmen with Second Grade

We had so much fun today making snowmen with our friends from Mrs. Haley's Second Grade class! Miss Todd especially enjoyed getting to see her past Kindergartners help her current class! Here is a cute show of our time together. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think. Thanks again to Mrs. Haley and her sweet students! We had a wonderful time!

Super Scientists

We recently completed a study of wood. During this unit, we were introduced to five different kinds of wood--pine, redwood, and basswood, which are made from nature, and plywood and particle board, which are made by man. We observed these wood samples and then explored ways that we could change them. We participated in several experiments with wood including a challenge to sink the pine and plywood and an opportunity to combine and separate sawdust and shavings and water. We also learned how to make plywood and practiced changing wood using sandpaper. We recorded our wood explorations in the show below. We hope you like it! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think! Thanks!
