Music Around the World--A Christmas Edition--Week 6--South America

What an exciting day we had at our Music Around the World Club today! We learned all about South America and one of their favorite instruments--the rainstick. After exploring some of the special places you can visit in Brazil, we were able to learn about a day in the life of a boy from Brazil. We also saw some of the different ways that you can make a rainstick. We enjoyed learning about the rainstick so much that we decided to make our very own rainstick. Then, we had the privilege of singing "Let There Be Peace on Earth" with our new instruments. We also reviewed two of our favorite songs, "Let it Be Christmas Everywhere" and "Feliz Navidad". We had such a fabulous day and can not wait until next week! Here are some pictures and a video from our exciting day! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Socktober

During the month of October, our Kindergartners here at Watson participated in Kid President's Socktober campaign where he encouraged others to do something kind for your community by collecting socks for the homeless. The socks that we collected were donated to the Friendship House here in our community. Here is the music video that we created in celebration of our successful service project and a few pictures from our fun day! Enjoy! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think! I have also included a screen shot of a tweet we received from Brad Montague (the creator of Kid President), after he watched our awesome "Socks Rock" video on twitter! I thought that this tweet was really sweet! :)

Lovely Landforms

We have been learning about landforms this week during our Social Studies unit. Some of the exciting landforms that we have been studying are mountains, hills, plains, deserts, oceans, rivers, and lakes. We had the opportunity to build hills and mountains out of play dough, and we created lakes and plains out of graham crackers, blue icing, and goldfish crackers. Finally, as a culmination project, we created our own landform paintings using watercolors. Here are some pictures from our fun week! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about our landform creations.

Music Around the World--A Christmas Edition--Week 5--America

What an exciting day we had in Music Around the World this morning. We had a wonderful time wearing our Halloween costumes and singing Christmas songs from around the world! :) After reviewing the other songs that we already know, we learned about America and the many different ways that people celebrate Christmas here in our country. We were introduced to an American classic--Jingle Bells and enjoyed singing and playing along to this song. Check out our pictures and video from our fun time together! Leave us a comment and let us know what your think!

Red Ribbon Week--Say "BOO" to drugs!

In celebration of Red Ribbon Week, we enjoyed a Say "Boo" to Drugs Day where we dressed in costumes to scare the drugs away. We promised to be drug free! After learning about spiders, we also enjoyed a special spider snack. Later that evening, we enjoyed Glow Night which included a pumpkin decorating contest. Here are pictures from our fun day! We hope you like them! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Happy Halloween from Dorothy and her little munchkins :)

Fancy Farm Animals

During our study of farm animals, our students created a google slide presentation where they were able to showcase their work from their farm animal research project. As a part of that study, the children took videos of the farm animal that they were studying while on our farm animal trip. Here are their videos and pictures for you all to enjoy! Click on the link below to view their google slide show. Once you open the show, click on present. Then when you click on the video links you will be able to view each video. I have also included pictures of the cute farm animal art projects that our Kindergartners created after meeting their animals in person. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about them!
