Sharing and Caring Service Project

This holiday season we are talking about how it is important to give back to our community and to show kindness and love to others. In order to show our students how they can help to make a positive difference in our world, we have them be a part of real life experiences through service projects. Our Kindergartners were so excited to participate in our Sharing and Caring service project on Friday! They traveled to Brookdale Senior Living Center in our neighborhood virtually and spread Christmas joy and love through a Christmas musical. The residents really enjoyed their performance and have already invited us to return in person next year! We hope you enjoy our show. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Needs and Wants

We have been talking about the differences between needs and wants. We have learned that a need is something that you can not live without like food, water, shelter, and clothes. A want is something that you would like to have but could live without like toys. games, and even books. This week we had the opportunity to explore different items in our lives that are both needs and wants. We played a game where we drew pictures of objects and sorted them by needs and wants. Then, we used grocery ads to search for needs/wants. We created a mat that we used to sort items by needs/wants. Finally, we used the app Chatterpix where we took pictures of objects and made them talk, explaining whether they were a need or a want. Here are some pictures from our fun week. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think! Thanks!

Amazing Addition

In math this week we continued our study of addition. We enjoyed playing a game of Roll and Record where we practiced adding two numbers together to find the sum. Our favorite activity this week was domino addition where we wrote addition problems that we created from dominos. We had so much fun solving addition problem after addition problem. Here are some cute pictures from this activity. Ask us how to solve your favorite addition problem for you!

Exciting Energy

This week we learned about the science of sound and how sound energy can be used to make music. We learned how our vocal chords work and felt them vibrate. Then, we explored musical instruments made out of recyclable materials. We also created our own shakers and had a Christmas sing-a-long. Here are some pictures and videos from our explorations with sound:
