In science, we learned about transportation and the way that things move. We enjoyed reading stories about transportation vehicles and learning songs like the "Wheels on the Bus". We learned how buses can move forward and backwards, left and right, and that the windows can go up and down. Then, we created our very own shape buses and used them to practice the movements that we have learned. Here are some pictures of our fabulous creations.

Technology, Transportation, and Team Work!
Wow! What a busy week we have had this week in Kindergarten! We have been studying about technology in the past and present. We learned how technology is any tool that makes a task easier. We discovered that even a pencil or crayon can be a type of technology. We learned about how in the past people used chalk to write. We also took time to study about how our technology tools have evolved over the years. Some of the items that we talked about included how we used to use candles and now use lightbulbs for lighting, we used to use a broom and rug beater and now use vacuums, and how we used to use a brick oven and now use conventional ovens for cooking.

Finally, we studied how things move and the force that is needed to move an object. We brought items from home that can be moved and explored what we have to do in order to make them do so. Then, we created a list of all of the ways that our toys could move. We learned about the force push and pull. We sorted our toys and decided which ones could be pushed, pulled, or both. Then, we completed an investigation where we used marbles and applied different forces to them to see if we could alter the way they moved. Please check out our video of our marble investigation below.
As a culminating activity, we participated in a movement challenge where we had to use different supplies such as marbles, straws, cups, a marble run, foam blocks, wooden blocks, and recyclable materials to make a marble move without touching it. We had a wonderful time and learned a lot about force and motion. Please check out all of our pictures and videos from our experiments below.
