Procedural Text--How Tos

This week we studied procedural texts and the importance of following directions when you are using a "how to" text to create something. We also took this opportunity to create our own "how to" story where we taught our reader how to do something that we were an expert at. Here is the process our amazingly talented Kindergartners went through to create their own how to stories.

We were introduced to procedural text by making our very own grill cheese sandwiches in class.

Next, we practiced our sequencing skills and used sequencing words such as first, next, then, and last to retell a story.

Then, we began to create our own how to story by using an outline to draw out the steps for something that we knew how to do on an expert level.

Finally, we turned our outlines into our very own how to stories.
