Our STEAM School Session 1 experience culminated with a special visit from a real life musician, Mrs. Mary Shinn. Mrs. Shinn was the principal flautist for the Allen Symphony, teaches flute lessons, and plays both the piano and organ. She is very special to our teacher, Miss Todd, because she is her flute teacher. They have been playing flute together since Miss Todd was eleven. Mrs. Shinn shared her C flute, piccolo, and bass flute with our Music Around the World class. Then, she and Miss Todd played several duets for us. Mrs. Shinn has always taught Miss Todd that if you work hard and always try your best you can do anything! She is Miss Todd's favorite teacher because she never gave up on her, and has always supported her in anything she has wanted to do!
