Music Around the World--A Christmas Edition--Week 5--America

What an exciting day we had in Music Around the World this morning. We had a wonderful time wearing our Halloween costumes and singing Christmas songs from around the world! :) After reviewing the other songs that we already know, we learned about America and the many different ways that people celebrate Christmas here in our country. We were introduced to an American classic--Jingle Bells and enjoyed singing and playing along to this song. Check out our pictures and video from our fun time together! Leave us a comment and let us know what your think!

Fall Favorites

This week we have been studying about some fall favorites---apples and pumpkins! We had the opportunity to open up a pumpkin and see inside of it, estimate the circumference of our pumpkin, and plant our very own pumpkin plants. We have included pictures of our fun pumpkin day and our finished jack-o-lantern as well as pictures from our circumference game, sequencing activity, and pumpkin planting. We hope you enjoy our pictures. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.

Fancy Farm Animals

During our study of farm animals, our students created a google slide presentation where they were able to showcase their work from their farm animal research project. As a part of that study, we took videos of the farm animal that they were studying while on our farm animal trip. Here are our videos and pictures for you all to enjoy! Click on the link below to view our google slide show. Once you open the show, click on present. Then, when you click on the video links you will be able to view each video. I have also included pictures of the cute farm animal art projects that our Kindergartners created after meeting their animals in person. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about them!

Music Around the World--A Christmas Edition--Week 4--Native America

Wow! Where do I begin! We had a wonderful time in our Music Around the World class today studying some of the beautiful music that came from Native America. After reviewing "Let it Be Christmas Everywhere", "Roo Roo the Kangaroo",  and "Feliz Navidad", three of our songs from last week, we had the opportunity to learn about the legend of The Flute Player by listening to an old Apache legend. We learned that the flute is a special instrument to our teacher, Miss Todd, who plays it in a local orchestra. She had brought her flute with her to class today and shared a special song with us called "Offertoire".  We also learned that the Native Americans used to play a sister instrument of the flute called a panpipe. Their panpipes were made out of reeds that had been cut different lengths and tuned to play various notes. Miss Todd showed us how to play "Carol of the Bells", a Ukranian Christmas carol, on the panpipes. Then, she taught us to play them and allowed us to create our very own panpipes. We had so much fun exploring the panpipes and can not wait to share "Carol of the Bells" with our families at our Music Around the World Celebration Night! Here are some pictures from our exciting day and a video of our experiences. We hope that you enjoy them! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.

Green Meadows Pumpkin Patch

We had a wonderful time exploring Green Meadows Pumpkin Patch where we were able to film and photograph the farm animals that we had been researching for our research projects. Here are some of the great photos that our Kindergartners took on our trip and a show from our fun day! Enjoy! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!
