Music Around the World--A Christmas Edition--Week 6--Germany

Wow! What an exciting day we had today at our sixth morning of our Music Around the World class! Today we learned about another wonderful country--Germany! We focused on how Germany is the birthplace of the Christmas tree and learned one of their favorite German songs, "O Christmas Tree." After reviewing, "Mele Kalikimaka," and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" we were treated to a special guest, Miss Todd's Dad, Mr. Todd. He played his guitar for us and sang, "Sneaky Snake", a song that he and Miss Todd sang together when she was our age.  After enjoying Mr. Todd's presentation, we had the opportunity to create string things, washboards, and harmonicas. We used these instruments to accompany our song, "O Christmas Tree!" You can listen to our rousing rendition in the show we made below. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about our fun day!

Red Ribbon Week

This week we had a wonderful time dressing up to celebrate being drug free and taking good care of ourselves so that we can grow up strong and healthy and make all of our dreams come true. Our favorite day was Friday where we got to dress up as a favorite storybook character. Check out our sweet pictures from our fun week:

Pumpkin Day

We ended our very busy week with a celebration of Pumpkin Day. We culminated our first week of our PBL with a study of all things pumpkin. We enjoyed a story about the life cycle of a pumpkin and created a sentence strip story of what we had learned. Then, we estimated the circumference of a pumpkin and tested our pumpkin string to see if it was too short, too long, or just right, as it circled around our pumpkin. Next, we reviewed our counting skills by counting pumpkin seeds. Finally, we planted pumpkin seeds in hopes of seeing a pumpkin sprout. We had so much fun learning about pumpkins this week.We hope you enjoy these pictures from our fun day!
