"Egg-cellent" Easter

We had a wonderful time celebrating Easter today! We learned about many of the traditional things that people do at Easter such as dying Easter eggs, going on Easter egg hunts, and creating Easter bunny art. Here are some pictures and video from our fun day!

Egg Hunt

Then, we enjoyed a fun Easter sight word review where we painted an Easter scene and were amazed as our sight words magically showed up! So fun! :)

Finally, we enjoyed an exciting jellybean sorting and graphing activity in Math! Here are some pictures from our activities. We hope you enjoy them! Please leave us a comment and let us know what you think.

Music Around the World--Session 3--Native America

Wow! Where do I begin! We had a wonderful time in our Music Around the World class today studying some of the beautiful music that came from Native America. After reviewing "It's a Small World," and "Kye, Kye, Kule", two of our songs from last week, we had the opportunity to learn about the legend of The Flute Player by listening to an old Apache legend. We learned that the flute is a special instrument to our teacher, Miss Todd, who plays it in a local orchestra. She had brought her flute with her to class today and shared a song with us called "Offertorie".  We also learned that the Native Americans used to play a sister instrument of the flute called a panpipe. Their panpipes were made out of reeds that had been cut different lengths and tuned to play various notes. Miss Todd showed us how to play "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" on the panpipes. Then, she taught us to play them and allowed us to create our very own panpipes. We had so much fun exploring the panpipes and can not wait to share "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" with our families at our Music Around the World Celebration Night! Here are some pictures from our exciting day and a video of our experiences. We hope that you enjoy them! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.

I had the privilege of sharing my flute with our kids today. Some of them wanted a copy of the song that I played for them. Here it is: https://soundcloud.com/user-955400071/offetorie
Hope you enjoy it! :)

Flat Stanley Adventures

We recently completed our Flat Stanley project! After reading the story of Flat Stanley, we created our own Flat Stanleys and mailed them to family/friends who lived all over the country. We sent them some interesting facts and information about our hometown and asked them to tell us about theirs. Over the past couple of weeks, our Flat Stanleys have returned home, and we have been sharing their adventures with our friends in our class. It has been so much fun to learn about the different states in our country and all of the exciting places that you can visit! Here is a show of our Flat Stanley adventures. We hope you enjoy learning about the United States of America as much as we did! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!

Our Art Adventure--Paint My Pottery

This week we enjoyed an art adventure field trip where we explored the visual art of sculpture painting and clay sculpting. We began our day by visiting Paint My Pottery at Willow Bend Mall where we were allowed to choose our own special sculpture and used our creativity to paint it. Then, we enjoyed lunch in the food court and return to create clay pottery. We will get to pick our creations up in a few weeks after they have been fired in the kiln and glazed. We can not wait to share them with you all when they are finished!  Here are some pictures from our fun day!
