Popsicles and the Playground

Our Kindergarten-Second Grade students stayed after school on Thursday to enjoy a Popsicles and Playground Party benefiting our Find Your Light Service Project. Our students had an awesome time enjoying a cool tasty treat and spending some extra time playing with their friends! Not only did we have a wonderful time, but we were able to continue to add funds to our service project! Here are some sweet pictures from our fun afternoon together! We hope you enjoy them!

Bounce Into Reading Summer Reading Program

Our Watson Wildcats enjoyed the privilege of celebrating summer reading in style on Thursday with a bouncehouse party! We had a wonderful time and the smiles on their faces show just how much fun it was. Thank you Watson PTA for making all of this possible for our Watson Wildcats! :)

Maps and Math Stations

This week in Social Studies we have been learning about location words. While participating in exciting games such as "Simon Says" and enjoying rousing stories such as "We Are Going on a Bear Hunt,"  we practiced acting out "on top of, " "in the middle," "above," "below," etc. Then, we created maps of our classroom and shared where things are located using these words. Finally, we added labels as a finishing touch, so that we could take our maps home and use these words to show our families where things are located in our classroom. Here are some pictures from our amazing map creations.

We also enjoyed participating in our math stations this week. We completed numbers puzzles, read number stories, used pattern blocks to create pictures, sorted dominoes by quantities, practiced counting quantities with game cards and clothespins, and built numbers using play dough. Finally, we began our math small group games with Miss Todd. Ask us about our "Cookies on a Plate" game. So much fun!

Science Tools and Numbers Rule

During these first few weeks of school, we participated in an exciting sink or float experiment where we made predictions and recorded our observations. We learned that scientists are observers and enjoyed seeing the results of our experiments. We have included a picture of our journal entries so you can see how we are being real scientists here at school. We also took time to explore some of our science tools such as droppers, clothespins/cups, paper clips/timers, balances, hand lenses, and magnets. We have also been working hard this week on our numbers 1-5. We have learned a fun song for each number and have been singing away as we learn to recognize, write, and count using these numbers. We even made our numbers out of playdough. Check out our pictures below! Please enjoy our shows from this week. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.
