Find Your Light Foundation Service Project 2022-2023

For the past ten years, my Kindergartners and I have had the special blessing to partner with Josh Groban and his Find Your Light Foundation to help raise funds to provide music and instruments to public schools who would not otherwise have these items. In our ten year journey together, we have raised over $35,000 for Josh's Find Your Light Foundation.

My Kindergartners who have participated in our Find Your Light Foundation service project for the past ten years wrote a children's book entitled, "Shine On" to commemorate our tenth year of our Find Your Light Foundation Service Project. Our goal is to have it published and allow the funds from our book to continue to benefit Find Your Light Foundation. My kids also had the great privilege to be featured in a video they created at the Find Your Light Foundation Gala to help encourage others to support this amazing organization. When we began our Find Your Light Service Project ten years ago, I was searching for a way to show my Kindergartners how they could make a real difference in our world. I wanted them to see that little people could do big things to make our world a better place. I have watched in awe each year as my children have embraced this dream and have not just been participates in this journey but have taken it to heart and owned it as their own personal mission. Find Your Light Foundation has opened their eyes to the possibilities they have to make a difference in our world, their ears to the beauty of music and its universal language, and their hearts to the joy of serving others. They have inspired them to find their light in all of the darkness and to go out into the world and light the way for others in need.

I could not be more proud of my Watson Wildcats and all that they have accomplished! Most of all, I am most proud of them for the people who they have become! Whether in Kindergarten with me today or ten years ago, they will always be my kids and with them our future is bright. Shine on my sweet Wildcats. Shine on!

Love, Miss Todd :)

Happy Summer!

I cannot thank you enough for sharing your beautiful children with me this year! They have been such blessings to me, and I have learned so very much from them. I am proud to say that our children have thrived and not just survived Kindergarten! While I will miss each and everyone of them next year, I know that they are all going to make fantastic First Graders. I cannot wait to see them as they work hard to "Find Their Light!" Shine bright my little ones! Your mountain awaits!

Love, Miss Todd :)

Today we celebrated our accomplishments, our friendships, and our Watson Kindergarten family! Here are some pictures from our exciting day and a link to our slide show from the year:

Wow! What a fun last day of Kindergarten we had! We celebrated with a popsicle party!  We have included pictures from our popsicle party. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think. We hope you all have a very Happy Summer! :)

Kindergarten Awards' Ceremony

What an amazing day! We could not be more proud of our sweet students today. They have worked so very hard to learn so much this year. From reading and writing to solving math problems and learning to be good friends, this year has been full of wonderful experiences that we will never forget. We have had so much fun together this year going on field trips, participating in project based learning experiences, and helping others through service projects.  It is so hard to let our kids move on, but they are ready! I know that they are going to be fabulous First Graders! You have all been such a wonderful blessing to us this year! We wish you the best in First Grade! :)

Sun Smores and Pigeon Puppets

One of our favorite books this year was Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. We loved the silly pigeon and his funny facial expressions. Because of our love for the pigeon, we decided to create our own pigeon puppet which we used to tell new silly pigeon adventures to our classmates. Then, we decided to make a fun snack using the sun. We created s'mores and Dr. Mendoza used a heat gun to cook them for us. Check out our cute pictures from our fun last week in Kindergarten!
