STEAM School

We had so much fun on our first day of STEAM School Session 3. We enjoyed Music Around the World, Character Doodles, Lego Challenges, Digital Break Outs, and so much more. Check out our awesome pictures from our fun day:

2D Shapes

We had a ton of fun this week learning about 2D shapes. We enjoyed making rectangles, squares, circles, and triangles out of playdough and toothpicks. We used this lesson to learn about sides and vertices in our 2D shapes. Check out our awesome 2D shape activities from this week:

Dr. Suess

This week we celebrated Dr. Suess's Birthday and the wonderful literature that he has contributed to our world! Some of the highlights from our week included creating hats to match the Cat in the Hat and creating our own Suessical World.  Here are some pictures from our fun week:

Each day this week we explored Dr. Suess's books throughout our lessons. Here are some of the fun books we studied and the activities we did with them:

During our study of the Cat in the Hat, we created a book where we reviewed our color words by illustrating the different colors of the Cat in the Hat's hats. He even had a silly hat filled with many colors! Do you know which hat was his favorite? The red one! I wonder why?

Next, we studied opposites after reading Inside, Outside, Upside Down where we created our own flip books where we illustrated opposites such as day/night, wet/dry, and light/dark.

Then, we talked about nonsense words, while enjoying There's a Wocket in my Pocket. After that, we identified real words and nonsense words with a patriotic sheet.

In Math this week, we explored One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish. We then used this book to sort and graph goldfish.

Finally, as a culmination to our exciting week, we participated in several Dr. Suess STEAM Stations. Here are some fun pictures from our station explorations.

We enjoyed reading Ten Apples Up on Top and then created our own towers and tried to balance an apple on top of our heads.

In Science, we read Put Me in the Zoo and then made our own zoo for our animals.

Finally, we read Bartholomew and the Oobleck and had the opportunity to create and explore real live oobleck. Would you want to play with oobleck? Check out our videos and see what you think!
