Thanksgiving Musical and Feast

We hope that you were able to come and see our Thanksgiving Musical and Feast today! This was our culminating activity for our study of Thanksgiving. Our students created their costumes and learned the songs and motions during the week. This video is a recording of our live performance from today. We hope that you enjoy it! Leave us a comment and let us know what you think. I have also included some pictures from our Thanksgiving Musical and Feast and from our turkey cupcake snack that we made today. Happy Thanksgiving!

Candy Apples and Cartoons

We enjoyed another exciting event benefitting our Find Your Light Foundation service project this week--Candy Apples and Cartoons! We stayed after school and created a sweet treat, while being entertained by silly cartoons. We had so much fun with our friends and were so glad to get to help our service project, all while having a wonderful time! Here are some pictures from our amazing event! Enjoy!

Exciting Energy

This week we learned about the science of sound and how sound energy can be used to make music. We learned how our vocal chords work and felt them vibrate. Then, we explored musical instruments made out of recyclable materials. We also created our own shakers and had a Christmas sing-a-long. Here are some pictures and videos from our explorations with sound:

Thankful Thoughts

During our study of Thanksgiving, we talked a lot about being thankful for the blessings that you have been given in your life. Our Kindergarten students created an iMovie so that you could hear about the things that they are thankful for. Please listen and enjoy. Leave us a comment and let us know what you are thankful for. Thanks!

We also decorated a turkey so that he could be saved from his Thanksgiving day demise. We created a show so that you could see their disguises. Enjoy!

Music Around the World--A Christmas Edition-Week 6--Germany

Wow! What an exciting day we had today at our sixth morning of our Music Around the World class! Today we learned about another wonderful country--Germany! We focused on how Germany is the birthplace of the Christmas tree and learned one of their favorite German songs, "O Christmas Tree." After reviewing, "Mele Kalikimaka," we were treated to a special guest, Miss Todd's Dad, Mr. Todd. He played his guitar for us and sang, "Sneaky Snake", a song that he and Miss Todd sang together when she was our age.  After enjoying Mr. Todd's presentation, we had the opportunity to create string things, washboards, and harmonicas. We used these instruments to accompany our song, "O Christmas Tree!" You can listen to our rousing rendition in the show we made below. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about our fun day!

Don't forget to join us on Thursday night, December 5th at 7:00 P.M. for our presentation of our Music Around the World Celebration Night! You are going to enjoy seeing all of the instruments that we have created and songs that we have learned on our musical journey around the world!

Wonderful Writers

We have been working hard for several weeks to complete a writing unit on narrative writing. We have learned so very much about stories and how you can create them for your readers. We have worked hard to include the skills we have learned in our writings each day. Some of the things we have been working on include: writing stories with a beginning, middle, and end, starting with a capital letter, skipping spaces, and ending each sentence with a period. Today we took our post assessment and wrote our own story. Miss Todd could not have been more proud of our Kindergartners and what they created! They are truly amazing stories. You can tell that each of our kids truly tried their best and worked very hard to create them. Here are some pictures from their hard work. We hope you are as proud as Miss Todd is of our creations.
