Elementary E1 and E2 Art Showcase

We are so excited to announce that three of our Watson Wildcat Kindergartners were featured in the GISD Elementary E1 and E2 Art Showcase which was held this year at Toler Elementary on April 21st. Their work was on display at the viewing reception of the exhibit from 2:00-3:30 P.M. where we celebrated our students and their artistic creations! Sidney had two pieces of art in the show and Delilah and Mina each had one. Here are some pictures from their art show. Thank you to Sidney's mom for providing them for us. I am so very proud of all three of our amazing artists, and I can not wait to see what they create in the future!

Dallas Zoo

During the past two weeks our Kindergarten and First Grade students have been hard at work researching endangered animals through a PBL experience. Together in small groups, our students learned about panda bears, polar bears, tigers, elephants, gorillas, and sea turtles. They studied ways to help these endangered animals and then created propaganda to help educate others about the needs of these animals. Then, we took to the hallways and advocated for the protection of our endangered animals as we paraded through our school encouraging our Watson family to help save these animals. We also created commercials which our Watson family viewed in support of our cause. After all of our hard work these past two weeks, we had some fun exploring the Dallas Zoo and seeing the animals that we learned about all week in person. You can enjoy our parade, commercials, and zoo show below. Leave us a comment and let us know what you think.

Music Around the World--Session 3--Week 6--America

Wow! What an exciting day we had today at our sixth afternoon of our Music Around the World Club! Today we learned about our country--America! We focused on how Texans like to put a country twist on American favorites and were treated to a special guest, Miss Todd's Dad, Mr. Todd. He played his guitar for us and sang, "Sneaky Snake", a song that he and Miss Todd sang together when she was our age.  After enjoying Mr. Todd's presentation, we had the opportunity to create our own new instruments out of recyclable materials. Check out our creations in the show and pictures below.  Leave us a comment and let us know what you think about our fun day!

Get Your Cray On!--A Crayola Experience Adventure

The new Crayola Experience recently opened up in Plano, Texas, and we were one of the first schools to jump at the chance to check it out! Boy was it worth it! We had a wonderful time exploring and creating all day. Some of our favorite activities included "Melt and Mold" where you could create your own ring or car and "Spin It" where you could power a spinning wheel with your own two arms, in order to create an artistic masterpiece. I would encourage you to take your family and go back for a fun family adventure, as well. We really did have an exciting time!
